Food Security in the area

Northdale, located within the uMgungundlovu District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, faces significant socioeconomic challenges. High poverty rates, coupled with limited employment opportunities and low educational levels, have resulted in a high dependency on social grants. This district has been chosen as part of the National Health Insurance (NHI) pilot program due to its pressing healthcare needs. Despite a population of over 100,000, only a small percentage of residents have formal employment, leading to financial strain and limited access to essential services. Addressing issues such as infant mortality, maternal mortality, and HIV prevalence requires improvements in sanitation, healthcare infrastructure, and education.
