Phase 1 / Assessment
The Assessment Phase provides us with a mechanism for identifying the physical health challenges and needs that each community faces, which enables us to determine the appropriate course of action to address their challenges and needs.
Phase 2 Relief
Our approach to relief relies heavily on the effectiveness of the Assessment Phase and can vary based on the community, environment, findings of the assessment, resources, etc. We are very adaptive in our approach to relief, which has in the past included: soup kitchens, household distributions and more recently food parcels as a part of our Feed a Family campaign.
Phase 3 Projects
At this stage we begin to implement projects that address immediate causes of malnutrition and food insecurity. This phase utilizes the data from our assessments in order to identify opportunities, resources and skills available to maximise in a specific community.
Phase 4 Education
Our education programmes include: Skills training, basic hygiene training, basic nutrition education and wellness training (poverty coping strategies). We commence training immediately following the start of a project and continue with training and development throughout.
Phase 5 Sustainability
Sustainable development is the backbone of our mission. In order to sustain the health of our communities, we ensure that our projects support good environmental health. To achieve self-sustainability within our communities, we empower project participants with the capacity to decide, run, maintain and own the projects.
What we Do.
Nutrition for the impoverished
We seek to improve levels of nutrition in impoverished communities through sustainable integrated income generating food security schemes (e.g. soup kitchens, gardens, broiler, egg laying projects).
Providing clean & accessible water
To provide clean and accessible water to households where water is not readily available (e.g. rain water tanks, water rollers, boreholes/hand pumps, windmills, spring protection) so that individuals and communities can develop gardens, support livestock and be protected against water borne diseases.
